Betty and Glen owned and operated the first convenient store in Charles City called Hovey Oil Company Kerr McGee. Betty had a passion for being a bookkeeper in the business.

Betty was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She loved taking pictures and putting them in her photo albums. She especially enjoyed being able to share her photos with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her three children: Glenda (Denny) Gifford, Geri (Mike) Frascht, and Scott (Marsha) Hovey; grandchildren: Brandy, Lacey, Nicole, Stewart, Val, Taylor, Samantha, and Katie; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen in 1995; four siblings: Boa, Donna, Merle, and Darlene; parents; and great-granddaughter, Amelia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City
