Obituary for Lorraine Beekman

Lorraine Beekman, 83, of Charles City, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

A Celebration of the Funeral Mass for Lorraine will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Gary Mayer celebrating the Mass. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at the church on Thursday.

Lorraine Felicia (Wilke) Beekman was born December 23, 1935 to Larry and Louise (Weber) Wilke in Dickeyville, Wisconsin. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in 1954.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Carlisle Beekman on June 23, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Early in their marriage, Lorraine worked as a key punch operator at Salisbury Laboratory and then became a full-time Mom and farm wife. They moved into town in 2005 and loved living the simpler life. Lorraine enjoyed volunteering at the election polls, the walks she took with Carlisle and coffee with friends at Hy-Vee and McDonalds. After Carlisle passed away on March 27, 2014, Lorraine was usually seen at the Senior Center. She was loved by many people and in turn loved helping others.

Living family members include her three children: Kimberly (Doug) Erbe of Mason City, Debra (Brian) Bean of Redlands, California and Scott (Ali) Beekman of Marshall, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Matt Gemaehlich (Mindy Emerson) of Plover, Wisconsin, Kelsey (Chris) Clendenen of Seattle, Washington, Joshua (Salome) Bean of Switzerland, Austin Bean of Los Angeles, California, Amanda (Blake) Schwartz of Marshall, Minnesota, Dani Beekman of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Kenzi Beekman of Mankato, Minnesota; four great-grandchildren: Kellan Gemaehlich, Benaja Bean, Mischa Bean and Sutton Schwartz; and baby Schwartz in March.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Louise Wilke; husband, Carlisle; granddaughter, Elizabeth Bean; grandson, Alex Gemaehlich and in-laws, Carl and Jennie Beekman.

Lorraine’s family would like to extend a big thank you to Apple Valley Assisted Living and Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Hospice of North Iowa.
