Obituary for Harold "Junior" Rodamaker

Harold “Junior” Rodamaker, 89, of Charles City, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold Rodamaker will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April
23, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Gary Mayer officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hauser Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour before the Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Harold “Junior” Henry Rodamaker, the son of Harold John and Beulah (Trask) Rodamaker, was born on August 10, 1929 on the family farm in Floyd County, Iowa. He attended country school through 8th grade and then graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. On June 19, 1954 he was united in marriage to Mae Francis Siglin at St. Boniface Church in Ionia, Iowa.

Junior began working at Oliver before entering the United States Army. He served during the Korean War as a supply sergeant from 1950-1953. On March 1, 1954 he began working at Salsbury’s Laboratory in Charles City, first on the docks and retired 38 years later as a traffic manager. He also farmed 80 acres throughout his life.

Junior was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, VFW, Moose Club, Elks Club, Heritage Club, and a longtime member of The Knights of Columbus. Junior and Mae started Hometown Tours and ran the business for 17 years for something to do after retirement. He enjoyed going to casinos, woodworking, and loved to cook.

Living family members include his wife, Mae Rodamaker; children: Mary Patricia Ayers of Charles City; Linda Mae Rodamaker (Mark) Fabian of Denver, Colorado; Daniel (Kim) Rodamaker of Trenton, Tennessee; William (Marti) Rodamaker of Mason City; and Patrick (Beverly) Rodamaker of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William; sister-in-law, Wilma; sister, Velma Sinnwell; brother-in-law, Henry Sinnwell; two babies: Bernadette and Roger E.J.; grandparents John and Anna Rodamaker and William and Lydia Trask.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Floyd County Cancer Fund or I.C. Church.
